Yes, I do get your point. But I take it from your "tone" that you also don't want people to discuss the situation either? It's funny how my opinion of Leo is whining, while your opinion on Linux's lack of hardware support isn't.

I had a lot more to "say", but I'll keep the conversation more "general".
I'm perfectly willing to discuss it in fact the reason I get irritated is that you and tsuro don't discuss or debate what is said. That is a form of fanboism.

You see if I make a statement that linux is behind other OS's on some mainstream things I give reasons and support to that claim.

A discussion would involve you showing how those reasons and support may be wrong or how you disagree.

Instead you say things like "I have the freedom to think whatever I want" or give examples of how some coworker had a problem with windows. Of course neither shows that linux isn't behind but somehow you think that you have made a point.

Well, I already did.. or at least I feel that I did.

You think that Linux is behind other OS with some mainstream things. I say it's not behind, it's just has different "issues" if I can call them that. I stated that I listen to many issues with XP, for example, sitting next to the IT guy at the office. These issues are non-issues with Linux. So, I don't share the same idea that Linux is lacking behind in any way. It's just as strong, but in different areas. Does that clear it up?

You say Linux requires users to work at setting up certain kinds of hardware. I say that you have the same issues with Microsoft - you need to go around and collect driver CDs to get everything working properly. But you're response is that is, once you get those drivers installed everything runs without much fuss. Well, I say that's just titt for tatt... because all you need for Linux to work with no fuss is just to urpmi the proper driver set from the Net. And a Mac, well, a Mac ain't going to work with every piece of hardware on the market either. So how does Linux classify as falling behind in that regard?

You've also said that this whole thing was started off by whining and crying about Leo. Neither of these things I've done. I was just trying to make a point that sometimes bad information (or let's call it un-educated information) is sometimes worse than no information. Another point I was trying to make was that mainstream media doesn't give Linux the same exposure as the more commercial OSs, which is what I find most frustrating and wish could be changed. But this got buried with fanboyizms and the whining/crying comments, then quickly got reduced to yet another Linux is more difficult than Microsoft thrashing.... something I truly dis-agree with. I tried to give you examples as to why I think this, but we just kept coming back to the "my printer doesn't auto detect under Linux for ME" argument and name calling (none of which coming from me, I might add).

So, there we are. I don't know what else to tell you. :?

Am I to go into how I find KDE so much easier to use, set-up and configure to my liking than using XP? Do I tell you how I think being able to connect to Jabber, MSN, Yahoo!, and ICQ chat clients with ONE application is so much easier than having to install, setup and log in to three, four, or five different chat clients if you were using XP? I suppose I could, but this would be one loooong post.

Perhaps I did overlook some of your counter-points. If I did, then that's my fault. But I guess name calling sometimes blinds me to any applicable information surrounding it.

All right whatever. If in the context of what we have been talking about you can compare a driver cd to what it takes to get some hardware working on linux than all I can do is sit back and be baffled. And this isn't obscure hardware we are talking about either.

Maybe I assumed that the comparison was absurd and mistook your comments as fanboism. If you really beleive it then I'm not sure what else to say.

We are the sum of our experiences. And we've obviously have had different experiences with Linux, that's for sure. :D

That may be true but not all experiences are equal. If someone buries there head in the sand then he is still only the sum of his experiences but his opinions will only be worth what can be gained from someone with his head in the sand.
