What is with the freakin' spam?

Seriously, I don't get it. You don't see this kinda spam anywhere else. Why do all these spammers target you guys, of all people, and here, of all places. We're just a small community of Linux geeks. I don't know, maybe Pat pissed off one too many Apple wieners.

Yeah, they do, but it still seems like there are more people attacking this place than anywhere else. I've seen atleast 50 different users post spam on this board. This thread wasn't intended to be a complaint, but more or less just a genuine question.

It's prolly just bots. I think maybe 3 people actually read my blog, and I get a metric assload of spam on it every day.

Uh, Allan said he stopped reading so that makes only 2 :-)

Anyway, it is a pain, the Spam, and Pat moreso than me has been doing a phenomenal job keeping the board cleaned up. The only other way around this is to enforce a policy that all new members have to be authorized by an admin before their membership is approved. This limits how soon one can post after signing up. Something we do not want to do.
