Amarok 10.4.4 - big thumbs up!

Judland, can you go download an ep of pauldotcom security weekly and see if it plays right for you? If I fast forward or reverse or even pause, things get screwy quickly.

I just downloaded episode 50 in MP3 format. It's 80:55 in duration and is encoded at 96KBPS/44KHZ (according to the player).

I opened it up with the GP2X music player and did some pauses, fast forwards, reviews and more pauses. No problem what so ever.

Now someone tell me of a $35 player that handles VBR just fine, and I'll be shopping.

The GP2X is one nice little unit. I would imagine that something that can play videos and video games would have no difficulty at all with a VBR MP3. You should be able to load a program of similar complexity to XMMS on the GP2X and use it without issue. I don't know what media player the GP2X is using, but I have a feeling that it is a little more feature rich than what they can cram on a 128mb iriver.

I guess you get what you pay for... except when it comes to iPods (which are crap, in my opinion).

It should work in either - it's just a repo with an updated amarok in it. I have amarok 1.4.4 on my wife's dapper lappy via those means. IIRC Edgy came with 1.4.4. I've spent $30 at magnatune in 2 days - I think I have a problem...

Remember that other thread where you were asking for some tips on your wife's migration, and a number of us, including myself, suggested Magnatune? We'll I'd just like to say: WHAT DID WE TELL YA SNARKOUT!

I have to admit I find myself listening to Magnatune more and more because it's now integrated with Amarok. How awesome is that Magnatune lets you listen to their entire music catalog? I will definitely buy some new music in the coming weeks.

a) the magnatune music store frontend for amarok didn't exist then.

b) she doesn't buy very much music from ITMS at all - mostly it's videos for her ipod - so this doesn't mean much to her at all.

Yeah - it's great being able to do tcpdump and figure that sort of thing out for yourself. It's strange that they didn't address the muliple purchase issue...
