It's good to find out I wasn't the only one who thought that commercial made the image of the Mac user look too hip and smug.Apple's "I'm a Mac" campaign is almost perfect: It's funny, memorable, and efficiently lays out the advantages of Macs over PCs. Its only defect: Virtually everyone who watches it comes away liking the "PC guy" while wanting to push the "Mac guy" under a bus...
...Why was Long dropped, specifically? Perhaps for striking people as a "smug little twit," in the words of Seth Stevenson, ad critic for Slate. Long, he adds, is "just the sort of unshaven, hoodie-wearing, hands-in-pockets hipster we've always imagined when picturing a Mac enthusiast.... It's like Apple is parodying its own image while also cementing it."

I never cared for the Mac guy for the reasons mentioned, but what really pisses me off the most about those Mac ads is that they are so inaccurate, and people have no clue. The Mac isn't the only alternative to Windows, and I can't stand it when people use the term "PC" when referring to Windows. Just once I want to see a Linux guy jump in there and say "Hey, I do everything the Mac does... for Free! And you don't have to throw your old computer away!"
You have seen the commercials from http://www.truenuff.com/ right? They have a linux guy in there, pretty funny stuff.
