It does look interesting, i was in #vb(not the programming languagetom_mc wrote:This looks like a very sweet program for virtualization

The application borrows alot of architecture(the way it works , not hardware , ie x86, arm, sparc etc) from qemu, but its written in c++ as they have a c++ api that they like to maintain opposed to qemu in C.
The x86_64 port is almost done in svn , but a less someone steps up to port any version too FreeBSD, there not going to do it. There are going to add vmware 3 & 4 image support but no plans for qcow1 or 2 , a less of course someone does it outside the main core team.
It would be interesting to see what the performance of this application is like, now that new intel and amd chips can do hardware virtualisation with xen and other apps?, dual boot in a few years to come will be history.

What do you mean by pre-built machines? Are you talking about using vmware player to run pre-built images? If so, it's very easy to create your own image to run under vmware player.spotslayer wrote:Anyone tried this yet? I have been using VMware player. Ok for pre built machines. I used the time bomb trial to build a couple of my own. I would like to know how this works.

I have created machines using the time bomb (30 day trial) version of Virtual Machine. That is very easy. Once built these can be used with VM player. I don't know how to build a machine with the player. I would sure like to.dann wrote:What do you mean by pre-built machines? Are you talking about using vmware player to run pre-built images? I haven't messed with this at all since I'm just not that interested in virtual machines right now, but my understanding is that you can use rpath'rbuilder to make images viewable by vmware.

Shared pain is lessened, shared joy is increased; thus do we refute entropy.

Dave Yates talks about Virtualbox on his podcast http://lottalinuxlinks.com/blog and said he likes it better than vmware player.spotslayer wrote:Anyone tried this yet?
