Damn Vunerable Linux?

I found a posting on another forum about damn vulnerable linux, seems to be interesting,

its good for training people all about security in a contained environment , surely given them a copy of vista would of been equally vulnerable.

One thing i think is odd about is that this project is in cooperation with the French Reverse Engineering Team, and if you follow the link to http://www.iitac.org, http://www.Secure-Software-Engineering.com , and http://www.binary-reverser.org/
which are provided , it does not really have much to do with linux.

Reverse enginnering on linux/bsd on the whole sounds silly , you have the source , no need to dissemble it or whatever. Also the binaries gcc spits out are fairly easy to dissemble from what ive heard compared to other compilers.

Also there is no equivalent that i know of to IDA (Interactive Disassembler).

http://boomerang.sourceforge.net/ , that's a open source decompiler, the developer who left told me that the project is not going anyway, despite people still working on it.
