Dan,

if your exchange admins have the web access (owa I think it is called on the exchange side) feature on and if you can access your exchange mailbox with a web browser then the evolution plugin will work.

when setting up the exchange mailbox in evolution just plugin the url to the exchange mailbox that you used to access in the browser. all calendar functions will work.

if you can get the address of the global mailbox in exchange you can also plug that in to get address list functions - i.e compsing email hit to and type in a name and list of names will appear that you can chose from when you have the global address book selected above.

I find evolutions is real flaky with ms calendar. Also it doesn't seem to handle imap servers nicely. My experience has been that it is unstable, it constantly freezes and wont shut down without killing the process.

Also I found it is unable to handle ical of CalDav over ssl properly. I keep on wanting it to work because it is a nice client but its just too unstable -- has been for years

That's too bad, I was hoping my experience with Evolution was a fluke. I run my own little Dovecot imap server, and Evolution crashes far too often for me to recommend it, which is why I run Thunderbird. I like Thunderbird, and liked Sylpheed, too, but Sunbird and the plugin for the calendar aren't quite up to snuff, and unfortunately I miss being able to sync my palm pilot. Gpilot has NEVER worked decently for me. Yes, I can use jpilot, but I'd prefer to have my calendar and such in the same program, preferably one that can sound alarms.

yeah it use to be that way but the last two or three versions it really has been working very well for me and as advertised.

now that I said they will do a new version and will break everything.
