It was moved back quite some time ago. No one else seemed to notice.
So some time ago could have been minutes, hours or weeks. We only have your word that it was there and no one noticed. Why look for something that was known to have been gone? Perhaps had you let anyone, particularly those involved in the discussion, know that it was back you could have minimized the followup posts.

And the thread being back now does little good without the first post from Linc, omitting the email in question, to provide reference to what the rest of the messages are referring to.

Here's a question, Chuck - and please understand I came into this way after the thread had already turned to shit and the initial post had been deleted - why do you think that using an email to lambast someone should guarantee one some sort of privacy? There is nothing sacred about email, and I'm fairly sure Linc didn't sign an NDA before being flamed. I personally find it irritating that people will be such douchebags when posting on fora or sending email because they are 200 miles from where I stand. If someone wants to be an asshole, they should expect it's possible they'll see the same behavior in turn.

Trying to turn this into some sort of universal injustice or moral outrage is just being silly.

My contention is that if the hosts of the show are putting out their opinions in the way they chose, why should someone else providing their opinion in a manner they chose be less respected?

The person chose to send a private email to Linc. They had an exchange of mails, according to what I saw and was told from that person. Linc decided to post the message and the person's name and email address to a public forum without the consent of that person. It's the name and email address, and subsequent deletion of the thread to cover up what happened, that I have an issue with.

Being the hosts of a show, people are going to disagree with them. How the disenting opinions come to them will vary. Linc's actions show a tacky and spiteful way to handle complaints. Had he left out the name and email, this entire situation would probably not be what it is at the moment.

If they don't want to deal with other people's opinions, don't put theirs out there to be commented upon in turn. Do it or don't, but there's always a price to pay in a public medium and a few emailed complaints isn't that bad.

My contention is that you are a troll and full of shit. You are BLATANTLY lying here to the people in the fourms. Let's start with some of the actual facts, not the ones you are making up...
The person in question sent an email to the entire cast of the techshow badmouthing me in the third person, which pissed me off. I, in turn, took his public email to all the hosts as posted it in the forums. I just copied the whole thing here and didn't remove his email address, and no, that doesn't bother me a bit. I left the email exactly how he sent it to me.
You had a problem with that - having me place his email address in a public forum (even though he sent it to a group of people in the first place - again, this was not a private message).
Some time afterwards the original poster and I came to an agreement AFTER THE ORIGINAL POSTERS APOLOGY and I agreed to remove the email. Again, this was MY post that I had removed.
NOW, that brings us to your trolling. You, who seem to have such an opinion on the subject, never had all the facts until now. All you have done is make this your personal crusade. It's getting old and several members who actually contribute something here have asked you to stop. I find it quite interesting that YOU had such a problem with this whole thing because I supposedly posted a private email address, HOWEVER, you are the only asshole who took that private email address and actually took it upon himself to use it. By definition, that makes you a hypocrite. You are contributing nothing to this forum. Go away troll. I am finished posting on this topic. This is not a public forum much as you think it is - it's for the techshow. Obviously you aren't interested in the techshow whatsoever since none of your comments reflect that at all.

I should point out that "deleted" was the wrong choice of words in my last post since the thread obviously still exists.

You had a problem with that - having me place his email address in a public forum (even though he sent it to a group of people in the first place - again, this was not a private message).
So when you previously wrote in your deleted message:
Linc wrote:Decide for yourself - here's one below. Oh, and here's your warning: I reserve the right to publish anything you send me in any unflattering manner I see fit.
That anything you send me actually meant anything you send the show about me? Sorry, but from what you wrote it was implied that the message was sent you.

That not withstanding, any mail sent privately to the show address can safely be assumed to be a private communication unless otherwise stated in the email. If you guys want to make it a policy that email sent to the show is subject to reposting or airing no matter what, at least post that policy on the contact page. Leaving in a persons email to a public forum is a lousy thing to do without their knowledge.
Linc wrote:Some time afterwards the original poster and I came to an agreement AFTER THE ORIGINAL POSTERS APOLOGY and I agreed to remove the email. Again, this was MY post that I had removed.
So again, your edited message of:
Linc wrote:Ok, so I am a dick then. This has been completely non-productive. I will make sure in the future that I don't express any non-standard and approved opinions, and that I gleefully accept nasty little hate mails.
Be happy!
That say that you and the original poster came to an agreement and all was happy and shiny?
Linc wrote:NOW, that brings us to your trolling. You, who seem to have such an opinion on the subject, never had all the facts until now. All you have done is make this your personal crusade. Again, I am not trolling. This is a subject that I feel something for in regards to being a member of this community. Yes, I took that email and contacted the person. I hope that if someone takes what to all appearances is a private email and posts it to a public forum and makes derogitory comments towards me that someone clues me in so that I can chose to defend myself in some manner if I feel it is needed. I don't see it as being a hypocrite as I did not post someone's email address to a public fourm without their knowledge. I used the information provided to give a warning to someone who probably, and in this case, didn't know that it was done. He even thanked me for bringing it to his attention.

This is a public forum about The Techshow. If anyone is free to browse the boards here, it is public. This topic is about the host(s) of the show and what is acceptable to do and what is not with the listeners information, by a listener. So I do feel that it is about the show and that I am contributing to it.

Sorry, but from what you wrote it was implied that the message was sent you.
Bullcrap - I specifically stated several times the email was sent to all the hosts of the show - even the original message to the sender stated that. You weren't paying attention.
That not withstanding, any mail sent privately to the show address can safely be assumed to be a private communication unless otherwise stated in the email. Bullcrap again. I see emails all frigging day long and the ones that people want to be confidential are most definitely marked that way. I have an inbox full of them and if you do any business whatsoever, you do too. And once again, this is NOT a public forum no matter how many times you may say it is.
That say that you and the original poster came to an agreement and all was happy and shiny?
The original poster apologized to me, yes. that's why I removed the initial message, however, all was not shiny and wonderful because i still had you badmouthing me over something you did not have all the facts on. in fact I still do. I mentioned before that this seems to be your personal crusade, and it certainly does. Narry a day goes by without you slinging some shit about this even after repeated attempts from unsuspecting forum members trying to get you to drop it. You see, everyone here knows you have a dissenting opinion, but it's just not anyone else's priority. As for me, I am just fed up from the daily onslaught of bullshit with my name in your posts.
Again, I am not trolling.
You are the single biggest troller I have seen since I stopped running bulletin boards and reading usenet posts. When, exactly, was the last time you had something constructive and pertinent to say about anything? You see, I have known a lot of people like you and it seems that you are one of those people that are just not happy unless you can make someone else's life completely miserable.
This is a subject that I feel something for in regards to being a member of this community.
Community carries with it a sense of belonging and shared purpose. You are only here to piss people off. This is not your community.
Yes, I took that email and contacted the person. I hope that if someone takes what to all appearances is a private email and posts it to a public forum and makes derogitory comments towards me that someone clues me in so that I can chose to defend myself in some manner if I feel it is needed.
You didn't need to post anything at all. You chose to. You chose to attack me, not the other way around, and you still continuously do so almost every day. You could have stated your opinion and left it at that, but you just can't seem to drop it. I tried and you won't let me, and you won't let anyone else either.
I don't see it as being a hypocrite as I did not post someone's email address to a public fourm without their knowledge. I used the information provided to give a warning to someone who probably, and in this case, didn't know that it was done. He even thanked me for bringing it to his attention.
What makes you a hypocrite is you were offended about me posting someones "private" email address on a "public" forum because somebody might use that "private" email address. And then, you were the only person who used it.
This is a public forum about The Techshow. If anyone is free to browse the boards here, it is public. This topic is about the host(s) of the show and what is acceptable to do and what is not with the listeners information, by a listener. This is NOT a public forum. If it were, anyone could post here and anyone can not. This is not a topic about the hosts and acceptabilities about information, it's a giant tiraid and rant by you because you personally don't like the way I handled something. Well, we all get it. many people have asked you to drop it already and you don't seem to get the hint. If you don't like the way I handle my emails then don't send me any. It's really that simple. there isn't a damn thing you can do to change my mind, not is there anything either of us can do to change what has already transpired. I, personally, am trying to move along and have been trying to do so for weeks now.

There's two issues here.

1. The deleting of posts in the forum
2. Posting personal information on the forums from emails.

The tech show provides these forums. I believe that as the owners of the forums they have the right to operate them as they see fit. Obviously if they simply delete any posts they don't agree with or don't like that will change the character, usefullness and integrity of the forums. But it's their choice on how to run them.

Posting personal information from an email in the forums is a different matter. Linc knew it was a classless thing to do that's why he posted a warning about and even asked if doing so made him a dick. Well yes it absolutely makes him a dick for doing it. The more he tries to defend it the more credibility he loses.

1, I had a post that *I* posted removed.
2. I did not ask any such thing. I asked if my email response to the guys letter made me a dick. Not understanding what was going on, and trying your damndest to confuse the entire thing to make me look bad makes *you* a dick.
3. If you truely wanted the forums to be useful, you along with the other dick would let the damn thread drop and participate in something that actually pertains to the show instead of some bullshit politics.

Damn, it's like dealing with a pile of friggin 4th graders.

There is no confusion. You posted a persons personal information from an email in these forums. You knew it was a shitty thing to do. And you continue to defend it. Moving on would look different then you trying to defend your shitty actions.

Enough already with the rehashing of the so-called incident. My post is the last on the subject. Everyone has been WARNED. I don't want to ban anyone. Please don't force my hand.

Oh, there is a lot of confusion. I didn't post any private information whatsoever. What I am defending is myself against the lies you and Chuck are pushing around. As for moving along, I have ignored this shit for a month until now, just waiting for some people to go the hell away and let things drop, but it never seems to happen.

Alright, enough with this already. If you have issue with one another, please take it off the forum. Chuck, your point has been made numerous times so either pm or email Linc directly with your opinions on this subject. This thread is now being locked. If you have any problems with that feel free to contact me personally through a pm or email me at dann@thelinuxlink.net.
