I currently use Mandriva 2007 Powerpack on my desktop & Suse 10.2 on my laptop. Would like to switch the laptop to Mandriva but Kget (download manager) refuses to work in 2007, same link will work fine in Suse. Anybody came across this issue before?
Thanks for any sugestions.

Kget message "malformed url" in Mandriva 2007 Powe
Why be like everybody else?
Nope. Kget works Kgreat on my 2007 desktop. I use it all the time. Perhaps try re-installing the Kget package and see what happens.
Speaking of Mandriva. Do I ever like the drakwizard. Just finished configuring a new M2007 box to be used as a server. Drakwizard made setting up Postfix a snap. Two minutes and it was done, ready to go... I'm still charging for the full hour, though!

To use it with other browsers, what you can do is add Kget to your KDE toolbar (as an applet). Then when you want to use it to manage and track your downloads, you right-mouse click on the toolbar icon and select "Show Drop Target". This will put a large Kget icon on your desktop.
To use Kget with Firefox for example, you can't use the drag-and-drop feature (that Konqueror provides). But you can copy the link to your clipboard (in Firefox) then paste it in Kget (double click on the drop target and select paste). Then Kget will handle the downloading from there.

Thanks for all your input. When I get home from work I'll try the cut & paste method (Judland's). This program is a bit hit & miss depending on the distro.
Here is what I have found: Suse 9.3 & 10.2 work great (including drag N drop from Firefox), Mepis, some versons work some don't , Sabayon 3.2 works great (including drag & drop from Firefox), Vector 5.8 SOHO (Beta) does not work, Mandriva 2007 Power Pack does not work.
When I say is does not work I mean the drag & drop with Firefox. Never have gotten it to work w/Opera on anything.
As for other options Sun has a download manager that I have downloaded but have not used yet & Sabayon has Downloader for X in addition to Kget so I imagine I could add it to Mandriva.
I will keep pluging away since I connect at a painfully slow 24.6 with no highspeed options in my area (other that satellite) so a download manager is a must have feature for me. Will also check if there is any diferances in configuration and/or installation scripts between the distros.
Thanks again.
