Learning to code GTK apps in Java, C and Python

This is a very cool instructional video, specially because it goes through the newbie developer and how to learn the basics of the GTK API regardless of the language, being C or Java or Python.

The Video is around 1 hour and is very very good. The only downpart is the tiny size of the video you cant really see the code or the slides. Fortunately doing some googling I found the presentation online as well as the sample code used on the talk on the author's site.

I think GTK is a great API to learn because it can run on Win/Linux/OSX/Solaris as well as on embedded devices like the Nokia770, the OLPC computer and many other small devices.

Ha. I literally googled this topic about 20 minutes ago while bored at work then decided to peruse the forum. I'll watch it when I get home.

on a side note as this thread is about programming, John W. Backus left today, i was reading the nytimes Obituaries and it mentions how fortran began, which was interesting,

Mr. Backus got approval and began hiring, one by one, until the team reached 10. It was an eclectic bunch that included a crystallographer, a cryptographer, a chess wizard, an employee on loan from United Aircraft, a researcher from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a young woman who joined the project straight out of Vassar College.

How times have changed.
