N800 with MythTV

Post by coolfrood » Wed Oct 03, 2007 4:11 pm

So, to my surprise, I discovered yesterday that the UPNP feature of MythTV is working without any tinkering. I was playing with my N800 and I was surprised to find the Myth server appear both in the file manager and the media player. Playing audio is not an issue, other than the time it takes to populate the list of albums.

Video is another story, however. Most videos don't play in Nokia's media player. Just wondering if there is some way to do on-the-fly transcoding so when I try to launch a video, it gets converted into a stream that the media player can understand.

There was some effort to get a MythTV frontend working on N800 though I haven't tried that out yet. However, it would be cool if this can be done throug the UPNP server.

Any thoughts? Any experiences?
