Suggestion for an interview on the show

Post by Tsuroerusu » Sat Sep 10, 2005 7:54 am

Hey Pat, Dann, Linc and Allan how about interviewing some guys at id software? You know the guys behind the Quake series. They've open sourced a lot of their old games and made a Linux version of Doom 3, I think this would make for a pretty cool interview.

Plone

I would like to see if you get the guys that write/started the plone project

I use it for all my sites and it just rocks - it makes writing w3c compliant web sites that look great - in my opinion.

then ask them for a real easy quick solution for running behind apache2 using proxy and reverseproxy apache modules. - still struggling with that one.

okay answered my own question

here is how I solved the great mystery of hosting a zope server behind apache2.

I guess I am hard headed but I have been working on this for a while and then when I went to try it again this morning something clikced reading the docs that I have read through a thousand times.

But anyway here is the link that made it click for me - Like I said I read it a thousand times but it was the 1001 time that just made me see the light.

anyway hope this helps someone - and I still would like to hear the creaters of plone and/or zope on the show.

I traded emails with him. He suggested just talking on the Kanotix irc. I don't how well he speaks English? I even suggested that if his English wasn't so great we could get one of our LUG members who's from Germany to serve as a translator. He didn't seem so receptive. He's probably very busy with the upcoming release of Kanotix, plus the interview would have to be pre-recorded because of the time difference.

Sounds to be a little shy.

With all of the time he spends on the IRC and the Kanotix forums, not to mention developing and maintaining his own Linux Distro.... I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up that Kano is actually a computer in a bunker somewhere

Remember the W.O.P.R. in the movie War Games?

what about someone at this project:
http://www.eyeos.org/

It a real cool almost ajax environment with a calc program, a web browser, etc.

also I would suggest someone from this company/project
http://plutohome.com/

which is a home automation, asterisk, mythtv combo which people can buy directly with hardware or download as athe code is open source.

By the way I have listened for a few weeks now and you guys are great. I live in Collegeville, let me know when your are doing a show onsite form a location so I can try to be there.
