Favorite Beer

Post by spotslayer » Wed Jan 30, 2008 7:53 am

I saw this question on another forum I frequent and thought it would be interesting to ask here.

What's your favorite beer?

Mine is most black ales.

Predominantly I favor Belgian ales. I also like English bitter and Czech Pilsner. Those are my favorites. There are some very good American Microbrews out there. A lot of Europeans and Canadians seem think all American beer is Bud or Coors. :)
Go read about the history of Beer making in America. There was a golden age of American beer making after the influx of German and other European immigrants in the 1800s. This came to a crashing halt because of Prohibition in the 1920s.

I can suck down guiness like water, I love that stuff. I also love black and tans and enjoy Yuengling lager - Go PA!!!!!

I also must throw my bid in for the cheap American beers (including Canada and Mexico in there) like Natty Boe, Pabst, Old Milwalkee, and the like. Good ol' pilsners.

But not Dakota kick, no matter what those other guys might try and convince you of.

This is a pretty sophisticated bunch. Just a note. The very first answer on the other forum was

free beer

I kinda like that kind too.

D

I guess were just a bunch of freedom haters.

Boulevard beers are good stuff. Fat Tire is another one popular around here, though you can't buy it in Oklahoma because of our absolutely ludicrous beer laws driving away suppliers.

I have a special place in my heart for Weihenstephaner Original. The brewery is a ways outside of München, and my wife and I had a hard time finding it, but man was it worth it. What great beer. Oldest brewery in the world, so they have a few years of experience under their belt. It probably didn't hurt that we had been walking for hours and worked up a thirst, and that it was a gorgeous day.

Augustiner is another good one I remember from München. I had that one out in the Englischer Garten. Hard to separate the taste of the beer from the experiences of traveling in Europe.
