I have had one of those killawatt devices thanx to Pat's suggestion and they are neat. Measuring power output is addictive, especially if you are frugal. (I am not as bad as I used to be though.)
laptop 20 watts
desktop not including monitor 40 watts.
etc.........

I picked up a P4400 Kill A Watt trying to determine power levels used when overclocking and used the results to get optimal performance per watt. Very useful for Folding@Home machines that are kept on 24x7.

I have been adding up the wattage and I was thinking about doing a cluster with twenty or so computers and using pelicanhpc formerly parallelknoppix just to see how many bogomips we could create. My brother who lives two doors down kiddingly told me not to do it for fear of burning the neighborhood down. If my better half was still around, I know she would not have let me do it. oh well....
