sles vs open suse

I am dling sles desktop and server evaluation versions. I will be interesting to compare opensuse vs sles desktop. Has anyone else done this?

SLED/SLES is the enterprise version. The packages tend to be older then openSUSE. SLED/SLES is Novell's answer to RHEL. Enterprise distros are meant to be on the machine for several years and updated sporatically (service packs). openSUSE releases every 6-9 months and has the usual latest and greatest new packages.
