Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
We still owe them some props for starting the ultra-portable PC movement and getting GNU/Linux some great attention. But it definitely appears they have moved on thinking they can make more money by selling an XP version. In fairness, they're trying to sell as many as possible and make money. I still say they're ok with me, as they're going to get GNU/Linux even more attention with the motherboard Splashtop offering. Eventually, when GNU/Linux is more of known commodity everyone will be selling it preloaded on more equipment.

I wonder what costs them more - XP or xandros.

Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
I wonder if they still plan to put linux on their standard motherboards?
Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
We should make a video on 'Bring Linux Back' to the Asus EEEPC.
Anyone want to put XP on EEE and show much much it sucks to run Photoshop in it?

Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
Does the gimp run sweet on their xandros port or something? I know that several people have said the Eee is more capable than people give it credit for being, but I'd be surprised to learn that it's good for complex multimedia work, regardless of the OS.

Xandros doesn't have gimp in it by default. Since I doubt most people will get apt-get and install gimp on it, I dont think I will be much concern of apps. But sames goes for windows users.

Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
Then what was the point of using photoshop as an example?

Re: "It's better with Windows" - Asus blows off Linux?
The point is not photoshop, the point is Microsoft software (and 3rd party) is too bloated. Remember when you said about OOo and unionfs.
With windows you can ONLY do cloud computing. Wtih linux u can actually run the software in it.
Photoshop was just one example, but dreamweaver, microsoft office they are at least 200mb packages.

I don't recall ever saying anything about OOo and unionfs - what did I say?
