How was the Ohio Linuxfest?

Did anyone go? I know GomerX said he was going.

Yes, indeed. It was pretty cool. I took about a dozen pages of notes and plan on writing up the talks I went to at some point. Aaron Siego was the celebrity of the event, and always seemed to have a crowd around him. Ran into Ryan Quin from Symphony OS, but never got to talk to him either.

Paul Ferris from the Batchlogin Project gave an interesting talk. Batchlogin is a tool that allows sysadmins to record login information in a blowfish encrypted config file, so they can login and execute scripts on any server they maintain, no matter where on the network the system is, or how many times they have to log in (from machine to machine) to get there.

There was a good talk on Astlinux, which is a mini distro based around Asterisk (Digium was a sponsor, so there was lots of Asterisk info there). The stuff from IBM and HP about virtualization and using Linux to handle tremendous workloads with mutliple virtual servers was pretty amazing.

Sounds cool. We'll have to go next year. The one show we'll definitely make is the LWE in Boston. We're shooting to get a booth in the .org pavillion.
