SUSE has a very long tradition of a retail boxed version, and quite a number of their long-time users still like that. They've done this for at least 10 years, if not more. I personally own a SUSE Linux 10.0 boxset.

I'm sure they have announced it on mailing lists and stuff or in newsletters. Again, this goes back like a decade, you could just go into #suse on Freenode and ask, there's a bunch of old-school SUSE users hanging around in there.
