XP maybe $50 extra at dell.

Rumor has it that dell might charge people $50 to downgrade to xp.

I don't think you can get winXP any longer (except on UMPCs). The last day was yesterday. Go look on the dell site.

At first I was like how could they do this? Charge more for the license, but that is probably not the case. Dell isn't selling XP. I suspect you still get a Vista license but the MS EULA allows you to use that license for any version of their OS prior to the one the license is for. Dell is probably tacking on the $50 for installation/customization fee. I don't see why they could not get away with this. It's clearly in the EULA. Now I wonder if you actually get a copy of XP too, or do you get a restore disc with vista on it instead?

Please do not kill the messenger. Besides, you can get a used p4 with xp and the coa for the price of the license anyway now.
