Denmark happiest country in the world

Post by allix » Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:49 am

The world has never been a happier place, according to a survey of global wellbeing which has ranked Denmark as the most content nation.

Social scientists from the University of Michigan said that Colombia, Canada, Puerto Rico and Iceland were among the top 10 happiest countries, while Britain was placed 21st and the US 16th.

Denmark scored highest marks thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, democracy and social equality.
Those polled were asked just two questions to gauge their contentment.

1. 'Taking all things together, would you say you are very happy, rather happy, not very happy, or not at all happy?'

2. 'All things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole these days?'
Pretty hilarious survey to compiled based on two questions.

I am sure Troels is laughing to himself as he reads this :P

I'm not exactly laughing my ass off, but I think it's weird-ass way to judge who is happier. I personally like some things, and I don't like other things. I like our welfare state, I generally appreciate the environment here and so on. Although I don't like our current government at all etc. etc. so there's always two sides of one coin.

Lego bricks are fun, I remember spending hours building weird-ass spaceships and stuff when I was younger.

We have other things as well, but good point I assume, although I don't personally touch alcohol.

Ban on pornographic literature was lifted in 1967. In 1969 Denmark was the first country in the world to legalize pornography.

Well, makes it easy to earn a few bucks at times when somebody's machine breaks down.
Sadly, Linux is not an option in most cases, because most people generally don't have to worry about their budget for essential stuff, such as housing, food, education etc., people rather pay geeks like myself something like 300 DKK (63,6 USD) to fix their machine and they go on using it like they normally would, than spending even a small amount of time getting used to a Linux environment.

Nah, it's like 10 years ago or something. I think my Lego bricks are in a big box somewhere, no idea where.
