It comes with sixty days support and it is officially sanctioned by Canonical. There is a growing thread of this at the UF and its starting to hit Digg, Slashdot and the others....seems to be big news. Still would like to walk into Best Buy and buy a Ubuntu laptop "off the shelf"...this is the next best thing.

Good news, I guess. It's been years since I saw boxed Linux on the shelf, and that was an out of date version of Suse that cost almost as much as a Windows XP upgrade.

I think the Ubuntu brand is well known enough that people might pick up on it.

At he BestBuy in the Webster/ClearLake/Nasa area near Houston (pronouced hughston) Texas, their geek told me that he had heard about them carrying it, but they probably would not carry it at that store. I replied to him that was a shame (plus a few words of what I thought about Microsoft). I thought in my head maybe if linux was $200 dollars like Microsoft, they would probably carry it.

Good news. I haven't seen any Boxed Linux Products on a store shelf since January when CompUSA went out of business. They carried Xandros, Linspire and Suse.
