Wow, I hope Apple users are paying attention. Is this really the company you want to depend on for your computing platform. I think how we've watched them with the iPhone, iPod and iTunes platforms shows that they would be far worse than Microsoft ever was. All the more reason to run Linux and shun proprietary operating systems.

Apple has decided that enough is enough when it comes to people publishing the reasons they have had their applications rejected from the App Store.
Where before people wanted to highlight the reasons why their app had been rejected, Apple no longer wants to have its reputation sullied in this manner.
Big brother's rejection
Every time a user now gets a rejection, the message: THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS MESSAGE IS UNDER NON-DISCLOSURE is displayed clearly in the letter.
This is a bizarre move indeed faced with Android's open marketplace, which is almost free of restrictions in what can be posted, and coming in to steal some of the application market from Apple.
Most rejectees have been upset that an app that took a long time to develop has been rejected only after the program is ready to run, so called on Apple to make the terms and conditions of the development process more transparent.
But perhaps just sending a more explicit letter is, well, easier...

It seems as though Jobs never heard of this quote:

He tried that with the Mac, and it hurt Apple considerably until they decided to use more standard hardware (PCI, SDRAM, USB, etc.). Mind you, that was after Jobs was ousted. He tried the same thing with NeXT and while it was a great system for its time, it was REALLY locked down to their own equipment and at a premium, and we all know what happened to NeXT as an entity. It took Apple purchasing NeXT to bring a boost of life into Jobs' plans for Apple, so it's no surprise that this is happening with the iPhone/iPod touch. He's basically doing what he couldn't do with the Mac back in the 80s. You'd think Jobs would learn his lesson, but I don't think he particularly cares unless it affects him directly.
Apple, you are a shadow of your former (more acceptable) self, and this is coming from a long-time Apple and Mac user. Such a shame.
