looking web hosting

Post by Ridgid » Fri Oct 31, 2008 9:20 pm

looking for anyone who can give me a good recommendation for web hosting. Currently on routhost.com and they decided to move there servers. Been hard to get my email and all support says is sorry we are migrating our servers. (this has been a 2 week plus thing so far) Which is a big problem for one of my sites that needs to have their email.

Thanks
Shannon

I use http://bluehost.com for all my websites and couldn't be happier with them. The price is great, they do Linux and the service is great too.

first web host ive seen this in the TOS
Foul language and profanity in the site content, and in the domain name are prohibited.
http://www.bluehost.com/terms_of_service.html

thats not going to fly... now I do not fill my sites with profanity.
but the whole "bad words" is just people trying to control other people IMO

If I want to say it... I should be able to on my own website

I wouldn't worry too much about that - I host tllts.org on there with no issues.

I use UnoEuro.com, it's a Danish hosting provider, but you can choose to have the website is in English, and they do sell to people outside of Denmark and outside the European Union. Support is minimal, but the stuff you have you can likely do in English as well. I have used UnoEuro for over two years now, I have never noticed any downtime.

My recommendation goes to WebFaction. My main reason with going with WebFaction is that they provide great Django support.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up going with dreamhost because I had to get my site back up by Monday and at the time Linc was the only one that had replied. I did look at the others though. I think Webfaction looks very nice. Had I not already got things setup on dreamhost I would looked very closely at them. UnoEuro and One did not load very fast for me. but they might have servers in the US I did not look any deeper because I had signed up for hosting already.

I can not afford another $100+ to take the chance that bluehost will not target me for their TOS. from what I could dig up it seems that they inconsistently in-forcing their own rules.
