What is you favorite router firmware?

Since Linksys is getting hammered about busybox on their routers, I just wondered what everyone used. I just upgraded several routers with various firmware distros if you can call them that. I plan to upgrade the ar530w cheapo from Fry's also. So, what is you favorite router firmware?

I use DD-WRT on both of my WRT54GL routers. Although I must say, I absolutely love pfSense.

Wow, this is cool... I had only heard of DD-wrt and tomato... Didn't know these others were out there... I will have to take a look at them.

I used DD-WRT but stopped using it a while back when I no longer needed a wireless bridge. I would like to experiment with others because the DD-WRT router seemed to crash alot (though that could have been a hardware issue)

Flashing (not the '70's college antics) can become addictive. I found a couple of ethernet based analog to digital converters for voip in the closet. I bought them for 10 bucks each from Fry's months ago. At that time the existing third party firmware was not stable. I think it is better now. Can not wait to try it. Freepbx here we come.


Update: just converted the airlink101 ar430w from fries to to dd-wrt.

I took a look at some of the non DD-WRT firmwares and I wasn't able to find a good match with the hardware that I have. I would probably switch to open-wrt, but if I read it correctly it uses the 2.6 kernel which doesn't work on my routers (yet). So I guess I will have to stay with DD-WRT, which is not a bad thing...

I took a look at pfsense. That looks really good.

Fry's has the ar430w on sale for 15 bucks today and it runs dd-wrt. Something like pfsense is nice, since you can upgrade the nics without having to get a whole new unit. There is already 10g (not one but ten) land line routers now. 100g is probably around the corner.
