Good deals on Android phones

With a bunch of new Android phones coming from Tmobile, Sprint and Verizon there are a couple deals to be had for the older phones from (cue the music) Walmart:

Both are w/2 year contract. Used G1s can be had on Ebay for pretty cheap now.

I am planning on getting the new Android phone from Verizon as soon as it is available. This will be my first smart-phone and I am curious about what app's you can use on Linux with the Android phone for syncing and managing your data.

The Moto Droid looks to be the nicest Android phone hitting the market. Android is heavily tied into Google apps (at least the G1 on Tmobile is). All my contacts are automatically synced to my gmail contacts. Google talk is on there and works great. Google voice is simply amazing. Some of the other apps I use regularly:
default mail client - does everything including gmail
twidroid - twitter/identica client
connectbot - SSH client
ES File Explorer - local files as well as network shares (via samba), haven't found a good NFS client yet
fIRC - for IRC chatting
lastfm client
Ebay client (pktauction)
Pandora client
Amazon MP3 store client
Amazon store client
Android VNC - for connecting to my Myth box
Browser (default) is decent but I hear Firefox is coming soon
Flickr client
Streamfurious - for streaming music sites (Shoutcast)
Where - localized shopping and information

Just friggen cool apps:
Shopsavvy - scan bar codes and get the best price anywhere
Shazam - takes a sample of music playing and goes and identifies the song for you
Gensoid - Sega Genesis emulator (hello Sonic the Hedgehog series)

The only commercial app I use is Co-Pilot Live (turn by turn GPS navigation) which sells for $35. It's as good as any standalone GPS unit. We recently used it quite a bit for our drive to OLF last month.

There are a ton of apps available for Android. Not as many as iPhone but a lot and there's more every day. I love it.

No not really. You can also connect the phone to your desktop with a cable and then mount it like any other usb mass storage device. Drag and drop files. Simple and works like a champ.
