Ubuntu 10.04

Post by kwisher » Sat May 01, 2010 9:25 am

Has anyone did a in-place upgrade from Karmic to Lucid yet on their MythTV system? I'm a bit nervous reading about the nVidia problem.

What is the nvidia issue?
I have a separate back-end and front end both using Nvidia cards.

I've also have read about a memory leak possibly associated with the intel video chipset drivers...

I've not yet detected anything that affects my systems.

Thanks for the heads up...

Not even giving a hint?
Are you talking about a driver which does not boost fan speed when necessary?
Or is this the issue loading the nvida binaries from Nvida directly which does a number on the display?

With the three machines running 10.04 and Nvida video.... No problems so far using only the Ubuntu paths and methods for video drivers including proprietary.

Not all are bad news. One is a how-to on getting the drivers to work. Just seems it will not be a smooth upgrade.

Nope, no problems like the described set.

I am using the proprietary drivers available via the Ubuntu Restricted Drivers tool.

I upgraded without issue on all of my machines running Ubuntu variants. Dan had some issues related to his hard drive setup. We talk about it in detail in the next show which we recorded last night. It should be out Sunday.
