What are your favorite science fiction movies?

Post by toddr » Thu Oct 07, 2010 7:28 pm

I found this on imdb: http://www.imdb.com/chart/scifi
I was kind of surprised at some of them. I can't believe Wall-E made the list.

I recently revisited a couple that happened to be on this list - The Matrix and Blade Runner.
Here's my top 10 (not in any order):
-Alien
-Total Recall
-Predator
-Star Wars episode IV
-Blade Runner
-The Matrix
-Dune
-Star Wars episode V
-Star Trek: the Wrath of Kahn
-Iron Man

Hmmm... This is a tough call:
  • Alien
  • Terminator
  • A Boy and his Dog
  • Blade Runner
  • Matrix
  • Inception
  • The Thing
  • Them
  • Godzilla
I am sure I am missing some.

how could I forget the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers? I also liked the remake in the '70's with Donald Sutherland. Great stuff!

In no particular order

Akira....................................(just the best animated film ever made)
Soylent Green ......................(Charlton Heston & Edward G. Robinson)
V For Vendetta .....................(c'mon It's based on an Alan Moore original)
Nausica - Valley of the Wind .( love that Studio Ghibli stuff)
Blade Runner........................(I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate)
Avatar..................................(Script written by a monkey but stunning visuals)
Metropolis........................... (classic by Fritz Lang)
Alien....................................( who can forget the alien busting out of John Hurts gut)
The Matrix............................(can you be sure you aren't really living in the matrix?)
Logans Run..........................(compulsory euthanasia for those over thirty! )

I could have made this list run to over fifty, but why should I bore you?

Not a complete list and in no order, but some of the ones I enjoy:
- Alien
- Aliens
- 2001: a space odyssey
- Tron
- Star Wars (Episodes 4-6)
- Star Trek (TOS crew. All except Final Frontier which I've never seen but still want to despite its reputation.)
- Star Trek
- The Matrix (the first one only)
- Blade Runner
- Fifth Element
- Logan's Run (saw it yeeeaars ago late at night)
- The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (BBC version. Not necessarily a big-screen movie, but still worthy of mention.)
- Hackers (Because much of what was in that movie was pure fiction, yet mindless fun to watch. :P)
- Starship Troopers (Also one of my favorite Yes songs. 8))
- Total Recall
- Terminator series of movies (The first one is still the best. ;))

That's it for now I guess...
