Mint Debian and MythTV database error

Post by kwisher » Sun Dec 19, 2010 11:28 am

Ok, I had to unexpectedly install Mint Debian on my secondary backend due to a motherboard failure. After replacing the MB and install the O/S then MythTV, all seems to be working correctly. Mint Debian/MythTV is talking with my Buntu master backend. The only issue I am having is that when I do a apt-get update and then apt-get dist-upgrade I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Setting up mythtv-database (0.24-0.4) ...
Failed to connect to database: Access denied for user 'root'@'10.1.0.10' (using password: NO) at -e line 5, <> line 1.
Failed to connect to database: Access denied for user 'root'@'10.1.0.10' (using password: NO) at -e line 5, <> line 1.
dpkg: error processing mythtv-database (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255
configured to not write apport reports
                                      Errors were encountered while processing:
 mythtv-database
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I have checked the mysql password and that the mythtv user password match on both systems. Can anyone provide some suggestions? Other than this problem, everything seems to be functioning correctly.

Could this be a version issue or is the mythtv version on the mint deb box the same as your other system?
Just a shot in the dark. Kinda strange that it checks the backend.

Hey wait... Did you say you tried a debian dist upgrade? I thought we were not supposed to do that with mint debian since it was a rolling distribution.

Anyhow, I'm probably just showing how much I don't know about this stuff.

BTW: I like mint deb quite a bit but don't use it with the ubuntu based mythtv setup I'm running with the backend and two atom frontends.

I don't believe it's a MythTV version mismatch but I could be mistaken. The secondary backend was running Ubuntu 10.04 before the hardware meltdown. Mint Debian is functioning as it was with Ubuntu. I can watch recordings from two different frontends.
