I am an intern this summer and this is pretty much my first time working with Linux-help!
One of my tasks is to take some old pcs and implement linux onto them and then work on the client image of each pc. Also, i have to find a way to have the users access our shared drives, someone here at work suggested samba...is this the best way and if so can someone please explain samba and why and how it is the best? As i previously said this is my first time really ever working with linux....so this is all new to me. Help!

The key point to Samba is that it plays nice with windows... you can mount a windows share on a linux machine, or you can share stuff on a linux machine with windows computers. If you have a linux only office, you may want to consider NFS.
