KDE defaults in Kubuntu?

Post by Tsuroerusu » Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:15 pm

Has anyone managed to get the default settings of KDE in Kubuntu? The reason I just hate Kubuntu right now is because they force their shitty KDE settings on you, and I just can't find a way to get rid of them.

Be more specific please - what settings?

Like the way Konqueror looks and feels, toolbars being super locked and crab like that. I picked this up on Google: http://archives.free.net.ph/message/200 ... ce.en.html

Also the background color in Konqueror makes me freaking sick, give me KDE's default settings ANYDAY, Mark Shuttleworth must be on crack if he believes these so-called simplified settings are eaisier to use.

Well, Shuttleworth probably didn't have much to do with color schemes.

To fix the menus/apperance in Konq:

Code: Select all

cp /usr/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror-orig.rc ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror.rc
cp -r /usr/share/apps/konqueror/profiles ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/
FWIW, other than the missing menus in Kubuntu, it seems like most distros are going for the same simplified look. Personally, I like the sidebar and extra buttons when file browsing, but hate them when web browsing.

So far, I have only noticed Kubuntu using weird KDE settings, SUSE, which I'm a big fan of, uses default KDE settings for Konqueror and customizes dem A LITTLE to make KDE even prettier to look at, like extra shining stuff...

I think you'll find that the majority of defaults in Kubuntu are set by Jonathan Riddell.

Well, in that case, he's the one who needs his head examined, not only does he give Kubuntu some crabby settings but prevents me from easisily getting the KDE defaults. That's one of the reason why I really don't like Kubuntu.
