Hey if you havn't tried the Darwinia demo i suggest you try it out. It is a very unique strategy game available natively on Linux. I just tried out the demo and it seems really good. It has a very unique gameplay and story line and you don't need a beowolf cluster to run it. If you like you can purchase the full game its only $30. If your on Gentoo both the demo and full game are in Portage.

Either you must enter a key or download the file manually from the darwinia site. Portage has a lot of commercial programs so its easy to install not only open source programs.dann wrote:How does Gentoo get away with having Darwinia in portage? Do you have to purchase a key to unlock it?
I played the Demo a few months back, it is a very interesting and involving game. I also recommend it. Someday soon I will put my money where my mouth is and purchase a copy.
The ebuild for Darwinia links to the installer file that can be downloaded from the Darwinia site at http://www.darwinia.co.uk/support/linux.html. Portage downloads the installer and installs the game files from the installer along with the required files from the Darwinia CD, so long as the CD is mounted.
