Email client that doesn't completely suck?

Is there an email client that doesn't completely suck? Both kmail and evolution crash more often than bumper cars. Thunderturd doesn't crash as often, but looks *very* ugly in kde, and isn't dockable (I've heard there's a hack, but can't remember what it was called). Sylpheed -- I just don't dig it.

Ideas? I'm really going nuts here. I'd use thunderbird, somewhat-happily, if it were dockable in kde.

Have you tried kdocker to dock thunderbird? I have not tried it but a friend of mine has and says it works great.

As for a client, I switch between Thunderbird and mutt.

KMail crashing? I've had it running for over a week now, works fine.

How many mail accounts do you have, and are any of them imap accounts using subscriptions? I have seen multiple bugreports on issues I've been having. I'd love to use it - it's actually a pretty good client once you figure it out, but I have never been able to keep it stable.

I am using kmail to attache to an exchange server via imap and it has been up since tuesday morning and is working great.

it never crashes on me.

Nope it's a GMail account using secure POP mail.

Well, let's hope they fix 'em soon then, try Thunderbird in the mean time, good email client as well, I'm running one of the RCs of 1.5.

It's a great email client, especially when you put it together with Akregator, KNode, KOrganizer and KAddressbook, and then you have Kontact

What versions of kde and kmail are people using? What flavors of linux are you running?

I'm using KDE 3.4.2 and KMail 1.8.2, I'm not using KMail on it's own though, it's a part of Kontact

I guess Linc wears the Slackware + XFCE + Fluxbox badges?

I don't wanna know what Dann wears, something tells me it's related to some of the creapy stuff he's pulled off during past TLLTS episodes (Remember his story of when he went running with his dog? The lemon party.... Dann is damn scary sometimes

You could use a mail notification app like this one http://www.nongnu.org/mailnotify/ . It works under KDE, but requires gnome libs I think. I havn't found a good native KDE one. Then that can run any mail program when you click it.

I've always had good luck with Thunderbird. I've been starting to use Mutt a lot also.

Along the lines of mail notification apps, I use the mail notification feature built into gkrellm and it works nicely. It can be configured to launch any mail client.

I used to use Thunderbird a long time ago and I liked it. Then I installed another distro and just stuck with the web client for gmail. Its got some nice features and is easy to use. I use the Gmail Manager then just click on the button and it logs me in. I do like how Kmail integrates so nicely with KDE but I think its easier to use the webclient. Plus with the webclient my I don't have to worry about going somewhere else and not having my contact list or my old mail being deleted or stored.
