That is good news. Although, once Arch is installed and you update the system, you're running the latest version of everything anyway.

Im in the same boat. I really want to rebuild my old box but I need another harddrive. Im not going to mess with my main box because its stable and I want it to stay that way. Besides there isn't much that can be improved upon Gentoo IMHO

Well, it's been over two months now of using Arch linux and a handful of Pacman system updates.... all done without incident what-so-ever.
I'm impressed, to say the least.
