TWIT goes FLOSS
It seems that Leo and his TWIT army are about to launch yet another podcast series, this time a good one.. a FLOSS podcast, the tentative name FLOSS weekly which I guess is an ´ok' giving our love with acronyms.
I'll rather like something like 'penguins on the wire' but then again what do I know.
Still it seems to be a promising cast with I guess some good FLOSS celebraties open for interviews.

That title sort of presumes that it's a Linux show, and not a general free software/open source show, for example I talk a lot about BSD these days, because I like both BSD and Linux. I think "FLOSS Weekly" is an OK title, could have been better IMHO, but it could certainly also be worse...... it could be LugRadio....Jza wrote:I'll rather like something like 'penguins on the wire' but then again what do I know.

Well penguins in the wire might presume that you are talking about penguins and not Operating systems, yet FLOSS means nothing to the rest of the world. At least Inside the Net makes sense and Security Now makes sense, FLOSS ..... not so much.Tsuroerusu wrote:That title sort of presumes that it's a Linux show, and not a general free software/open source show, for example I talk a lot about BSD these days, because I like both BSD and Linux. , no no just kidding!
Anyway I dont really care much about the title as long as the content is worth it. Funny thing is that FLOSS is everywhere, from security now recomending SSH and IPsec to Inside the Net with all the webapps API like Ruby on Rails.

Well, if Leo says what it means, and states it numerous times on his website, I don't think that it's gonna be a problem, and I think that FLOSS in general is a good acronym, at least RMS doesn't hate it.Jza wrote:Well penguins in the wire might presume that you are talking about penguins and not Operating systems, yet FLOSS means nothing to the rest of the world. (Just kidding guys, it's a good name)
Yeah free- and open source software is everywhere, heck there's some BSD code in freaking Windows!!

On the latest episode of TWiT (#44) Leo mentions that Chris DiBona is gonna do this new podcast with him, but the name is gonna change, apperantly Chris didn't like "FLOSS Weekly".
