Fighting Spam on this Board

Post by dann » Fri Apr 07, 2006 5:56 pm

There have been occassional bits of spam on this board, although not too many. I do have to spend some time periodically deleting spam accounts that get created. To that end, I am thinking about requring admin approval for administration. This way I don't have to hunt down and look at each user to figure out whether they are legitimate or not.

Personally I think your SPAM fighting takes care of things just fine (as long as you're not away from home, at least). If you want to enabble registration I don't think it would hurt, though.

You could always have moderators help clean out the forums if it is getting out of control.

And giving me the ability to delete spam posts helps as well! :)

I've deleted a total of maybe 3 spam posts in the last few weeks. Unfortunately I don't have admin privileges on the LAGER boards otherwise those last couple of spam posts would of been deleted quicker.

Ok, I enabled the captcha plugin, so hopefully that will work now.

I haven't seen much spam lately, but there's one about the best cum shot that's obviously spam. Are there some other people on the board who could help take some of the burden off you guys. I mean, I think Tsuroerusu would make a fine moderator, and there are a few others on the board who would do just as well. Just a thought.

Ideally we'd have someone on the left coast and maybe someone in Europe. That way we'd get 24X7 coverage.
