Start Time for TLLTS

Post by dann » Wed Dec 15, 2004 10:16 pm

Should we start earlier, do the show from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. estd and then skype calls from 9:30 to 10:00+ p.m.?

Let us know.

Perhaps there should be a topic in which your listeners could call in and give their 2 cents on.... like so many radio talk shows.

"Tonight's topic: How many Microsoft users have you bailed out of a jam with Linux?" Then you open up the Skype lines. Callers could then have a few minutes to have their say on the topic, the LLTS crew could comment, and so on.

Just a suggestion.

Keep up the great work! We're listening :D

That is a good idea. Have a bit of structure to the call in.

I like Judlands idea. Another possibility is occassionally having a caller do a pre-arranged segment during the show. It could be 5-15 minutes long (similar to what Brock did but just live). You call them and block everyone else. You guys ask questions from yourselves or from the IRC chat. During the last 15-30 minutes you can have a peanut gallery segment when everyone chimes in with an opinion. Try to limit each person to no more than 2 minutes a piece. Listening to the archive of last nights show it was obvious the quality of the confernece call was degraded with Andy's slower PC/connection (no offense). This will limit the noiseyness. I had the same problem with my other PC - 800mhz over a 1 way cable modem. Listening to the archive I sounded cystal clear with my 2.4ghz myth box over a 2 way cable modem connection. On special occassions you can setup a multi-person conference call.

Sort of like a Skype interview. Nice idea!

There's a national radio show, here in Canada, called ''Cross Country Checkup.'' It's hosted by Rex Murphy (who seems to have been doing this forever), and he's the type of guy who tends to "call 'em as he sees 'em."

Anyway, on his radio show, people have a chance to call in and speak their mind on current events/issues. It's lively, to say the least. In fact, it's been airing every Sunday for the past 39 years. The format must work. Either that, or there are alot of fellow Canadians that don't have much to do on a Sunday afternoon. :)

Something like that for a Linux/Open Source format would be great.

Yes earlier,

It's difficult to listen live from the UK, it's like 2 am here, so calling in will be difficult too.

So, at what time will tomorrow's show start?

Just wanted to make sure I'm around for it.

Hey, its a valid excuse.

My GF complains about the noise of me typing in the IRC. I dread to think what she'd say If I was chatting!

Works for me! Make the show alittle longer would be great! Get some feedback online from your listeners.

I know I get a kick out of camping online and listening, I started using SLS back in the days before air, so it's alot of fun for me to listen to guys ramble on about what's new, used and changing.

Keep up the good work!

Tom
