Which next-gen console excites you the most?

OK, every other website has done this "survey" by now, so I figure, why shouldn't we do it here at TLLTS?

E3 is now only hours away, and both Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft is gearing up for a good show, but which next-gen console excites you the most?

Personally, I'm all about the Nintendo Wii!

Speaking of which, now that we've got a Linux based hand held (or personal entertainment player) device for the open source world - known as the GP2X - where's our Linux based, open source game console?

And I seriously doubt we'll see one anytime soon.

I don't know about you, but I don't see the GP2X going mainstream kinda like the GameBoy did years ago.

Has anyone else noticed that the names of all three consoles end with an "e" sound? PS3, Xbox 360, and now Wii.

I'm somewhat sceptical of this whole Gamix thing, I seriously doubt Sony and Nintendo will face SERIOUS competition from it any time soon, the concept sounds nice and all.

I don't know about you, but seeing the GP2X go mainstream isn't something I'd necessarily like to see. To me, there's something to be said about being unique.

You need a "who cares" option. I'm not excited by either.

I'm just hoping to pick up a cheap PS2 once these hit the market so I can play DDR. Otherwise, console games have no impact on my life.

I agree, what I kinda meant was that I don't think we will see a Linux-based console go mainstream any time soon, for example I seriously doubt the PS3 will use Linux as it's OS, because then Sony will have some trouble keeping the DRM code proprietary I think.

nah they won't have a problem since you can still have proprietary programs on it and drivers already exist with Cell support. I see no reason why they wouldn't use it, a lot of the work is already done and they don't have to pay liceansing fees.

Anyways my vote is for the Wii, I really want some different innovative games which Nintendo is good at already so hopefully with the new hardware other developers will make some cool stuff.

What about a Linux based hand held that is reasonably priced like under $200 and connects to Kontact or Evolution on a Linux based desktop. Now don't everyone suggest the Sharp 5500 because that is discontinued, even used it is high priced, and from I understand, linking it to a Linux Desktop is not the easiest. I have to admit that games don't interest me, but I will play an OGG or MP3 or a movie file on a portable device if it is easy enough.
