Ubuntu on Sun hardware runs better than Slowaris

Gee Linux runs better on Sun hardware than Solaris does, Linux runs better on Apple hardware than OSX. Am I the only person who sees a pattern here! ;)

I have a PowerPC-based Mac mini, and Fedora Core 5, which was the last Linux distro I tried on it (Right now it runs OpenBSD 3.9), runs so much smoother.

I didn't even know that Ubuntu ran on SPARC machines. After searching around, it seems that Dapper should support three new architectures: SPARC, HPPA, and IA64.

does anyone actually use IA64 nowadays? I wonder how to compares to AMD64 in terms of price/performance

IA64 is basically Itanium and Itanium 2 processors from Intel, and let me just tell you something, you don't want one of these because they'll put pain into your pockets.
