Time to start Mac'in.

Post by snowman156 » Mon Feb 28, 2005 9:51 pm

Ok, so I've finally done it and got myself a Mac mini. Great, I'm now Mac'in. Of course, after two weeks I've discovered what it can and can't do so the next obvious step is to put Linux on it. I'm an avid Linux user on the x86 platform, but I have no idea where to start ont he PPC. Any advice on where I should start? I'm currently running Slack 10.1 on my PC and have tried loads of different distros. (See my webpage, http://www.davidjsnow.com/linuxdocproj.html) I guess the main question is, what is the best distro for a ppc linux newb to start out on? Thanks in advance.

Generally the top dog is considered Yellowdog Linux. But, I have to say, Ubuntu PPC is a fantastic distribtution. Do a double check on either distros forum to make sure support for the Mac Mini is available.

Thanks for the links. I probably should have read that before I installed everything on the Mac because I'll have to partition and format the drive, but such is life. It won't be the first time :)
