Going AMD64!!

That's stable. Testing and unstable have been official for some time now. Pat had mentioned he was running testing on a machine now, so i was referring to the testing distribution.

Fair enough.

Hmmmmmm... SUSE or Kubuntu or Debian... will be interesting to see what Pat chooses!

just a fair warning, AMD is switching almost entirely to the new AM2 slots and the 939's are being depreciated

So if you plan on upgrading in the future you will have to get a new motherboard and cpu (they will also use DDR2 RAM but I think the old RAM will still work with it, just won't be as fast as it could be).

I love my AMD64 system although the stock CPU fan is a little loud

(although I read somewhere that they are including better ones with some of the CPUs). I plan on getting one of those big Zalman ones that are ultra-quiet.

Parts came in late yesterday. I'll probably put the box together tonight and do my install sometime this weekend.

I've installed Kubuntu and I'm really liking it. For the most part there are as many packages available for AMD64 as x86. Everything works well. The only negative is that Google Earth looks horrible. I think someone else reported this when GE first came out. Other than that I'm really happy.

what are you doing for plugins? mainly flash.
