kweather applet

has anbody had trouble with the kweather applet in kde.

I have tried numerous times over the past few releases of kde to get weather from multiple stations around the United States but every time it says the station does not exist.

just wondering if anybody else has had this or am I going crazy.

can you do me a favor and see if you can get the saint louis missouri weather station to work on your desktop -

do you know if it needs a port opened?

this is bizarre - I tried a couple of distros and none of them work for me.

Yup.. Works on my end.

Sept 5th, 11:51am - St. Louis, Lambert Internaltional Airport
Scattered clouds / light rain / 22.2 deg. C

Not sure where the problem is on your end.

I always have trouble with kweather. There is some hack I used to do to fix it, but I'll have to dig around to get it for you. If you use firefox, check out forecastfox.

okay found some info on the kde forums last night

seems to be a bug

there is a file in the ~/.kde directory called weatherappletrc and I had to manually put in the location code for my city and restart kde.

seems when I edit it through the gui the location code goes to all zeros.

wierd.

Gotta love it when new versions of software breaks the app. Anytime you bring in the human element into the equation you run the risk of f***ing something up. Humans make mistakes. It's up to QA to catch it. Unfortunately they don't always do it.

I don't think this is a new bug though. I've had that issue since kde 3.2 IIRC.

Hmmm... if it's a bug, does this mean that it's a bug Mandriva has fixed in it's own distribution of KDE?
