I tried it as an alternative to openoffice, and its garbage; it crashes, its rendering sucks, its controls are clumsy, table drawing blows, etc. I'm going back to typesetting in vi until openoffice finishes compiling (its been 14 hours).

Yeah normally, except I noticed as well that abiword has been awfully buggy lately. Hope they fix it.Tsuroerusu wrote:Ohhhh watch what you're saying, a lot of people who want everything to be fast will hunt you down for sure, right Linc? (Just kidding man, it's just another one of my bad jokes)

I've found Abiword to work just fine. Maybe it's your distro?thetza wrote:I tried it as an alternative to openoffice, and its garbage; it crashes, its rendering sucks, its controls are clumsy, table drawing blows, etc. I'm going back to typesetting in vi until openoffice finishes compiling (its been 14 hours).

Sorry.
Personally I've reverted to just writing things in Vim as HTML or just plain text. At least it's cross platform. I've found that I can't even get Abiword and OpenOffice to share file formats. Forget it if you have to work on Windows now and them.
