Great man, btw how is your boot time? Thanks to my 10,000 RPM hard drive mine is like 20 seconds (From Grub into KDE).
jsusanka wrote:one thing I noticed about suse is the swap usage. it doesn't use any - where my ubuntu installation on the same amd64 box would use some. - pretty much same stuff running but I was just wondering if anybody knows if they do anything different to their kernels to improve swap and memory usage. could be just me and my box.
If this doesn't prove all the past myths about SUSE being sluggish and slow wrong, I don't know what does!

Err....apt-get? I didn't know SuSE used that....are you sure you don't mean YaST
LOL, dude you sound like you've just seen a ninja (

Apt has been ported to work with RPM, hence the name apt4rpm, SUSE doens't use it out of the box, but it's included on the install discs right along with yum and smart.

sweeeet! - now my daughter can use my amd64 machine with all her flash stuff for school.
Yeah there was an ebuild that used that hack but I couldn't get it to work a while ago. I will see if I can find it again and try it because I hate having to startup firefox-bin everytime I want flash (I love the Open With... Mozilla Firefox feature on Konqueror but it would be easier if it had native support)[/quote]
SUSE ships a 32-bit Firefox binary, because then they avoid any sort of issue with plugns and compatibility.
